12/5/2023 0 Comments Weta gandalf and frodo on cart![]() ![]() GoCart is to me just a large 1:6 set, that does not really present any exceptionality I would expect from MC material.no reason to think why it qualifies as MC and RoS, for instance, does not. Gollum really had me awe struck like no other statue.įor example, a cave troll with glass eyes, fabric/leather loincloth, and clear resin drool etc would be great!Īgree completely. I still think Gollum is the benchmark for what a Masters statue should be, even though the other two might have the higher RRP strangely, I’d like to see future Masters statues incorporate the kind of materials and techniques used there. Gollum was also 1:4 scale, and maybe some folks don’t mix scales, I know I only display sixth scale in the same room! I believe Treebeard sold so quickly compared to Gollum, even at the huge RRP, because the character is so loved and long awaited, so folks were willing to make an exception, and it was the one and only chance to own him in sixth scale. Since GoCart was revealed I’ve always thought it would be $1700 - $1800 just comparing it to the previous two Masters statues, but both Gollum and TB were $300 more than what I’d estimated when released, so $2000 ish is possible I suppose! ![]() Sadly I’m out of room for anything else this large unfortunately, TB will be my only Masters statue. I won’t be ordering GoCart, as much as I love it, and it really is everything I look for in a LOTR statue (battle scenes and big pointy weapons mean very little to me) and one of the perfect moments. Well it’s going to be interesting, that’s for sure! To be fair, they don't have to include anything, but a print feels like an afterthought. It shows Weta has grown more confident with this line and will squeeze more for less. GoCart only getting a 40 pound sterling art print is a step backward, in my opinion. It worked better than they could have imagined, but it did teach them a lesson that we wish they hadn't learned: give them a discount and the tactic worked too well. So for Treebeard, the best way to make that astounding price hike palatable was to no just include an art print, but offer an impressive discount to those that signalled interest. Gollum was the trial prototype, and it failed. For that kind of showstopper event, they really need to up their game to make collectors feel like they are special and getting the most bang for your buck. Different strokes for different folks.Īn MC piece, on the other hand, is expected to blow your socks off, as well as a planet-sized hole in your bank account. The light-up feature is sort of the bonus for the extra $100. Your continued revilement of MM's high price is duly noted, but it's not outside the trend of rising prices, and the fact that it doesn't come with an incentive is not out of the ordinary either. I am also proud to stand amongst the oldies. What was offered with MM for the massive price? Shades? Same thing that was offered with Barad-dur, Minas Tirith, Smaug, Mouth of Sauron, Eomer, War Troll, Thranduil on Elk, the Balrog, etc. The Masters statue took Oin - we cannot get out. The pool of debt is up to the wall at West-gate. Oin’s Wetadollars went five days ago but today only four returned. We have retreated to the Chamber of…Mazarbul. They have taken the Bridge and Second Hall. The statue hordes advance through every room. we have barred the credit cards but cannot hold them for long. ![]() yestre day being the tenth of novembre Balin fell. “It seems to be a record of the fortunes of Balin’s folk,” said Gandalf. “Here lies Balin, Drained of Funding, Collector of Weta.” The light of the shaft fell directly on a table in the middle of the room: a single oblong block, about two feet high, upon which was laid a great slab of white stone. The chamber was lit by a wide shaft high in the further eastern wall it slanted upwards and, far above, a small square patch of blue sky could be seen through the mountains of statue boxes. Statues, collectibles, things long lost and forgotten. Their feet disturbed a deep dust upon the floor, and stumbled among things lying in the doorway whose shapes they could not at first make out. ![]()
